Today, accurately measuring electrical activity in the brain to assess neurological health is a complicated affair involving expensive, complicated equipment and highly-skilled technicians working with patients in a laboratory environment. Several consumer-focused companies claim to have created inexpensive, easy-to-use solutions but because their products don’t offer proven, clinical-grade readings, their utility is extremely limited.
The Chen Frontier Lab is developing an EEG patch which is inexpensive, easy to use, and which captures clinical-grade measurements. In addition to working as an EEG, the Lab envisions the patch being incorporated into a closed-loop system that will help patients with sleep, mental disorders and other issues.
